Our screen porch and deck is done 3 days early! We still have to have gutters added and we have to install lighting – but that’s it. It’ll be wonderful to get the grill and deck furniture out of the garage after a year. And, now that things are done.. I’d give an unhesitating recommendation for Curt’s Custom Decks if anybody needs work done.

We got the paneling inside the porch completed and finished, half of the screens up, and half of the exterior railings attached. Curt says it’ll be done today! A lot has happened since the sun came up today, though – the deck railing posts started appearing, as did the cedar siding on the wall of the house.

Oh.. and making it’s debut: a new image capturing device. A Canon Rebel XT! Yay..

Friday turned out to be a very good day of building even though it didn’t start like one. With heavy rains early in the morning, it looked like it might be a slow day.

In the end, lots happened. We now have a paneled ceiling and railings around the porch:

As of Thursday afternoon, the soffets and fascia are complete – along with all shingles and roof vents. We should be pretty watertight – which is good since it’s raining on Friday morning and the electrical work was complete on Wednesday. It’s not hot yet, though. It also appears that the siding was ‘finished’ off around the house.

It also brought a roof over the screen porch, along with most of the shingles, and the roof vent. The electrician came out and wired the outdoor lights, the ceiling fan, and the floor sockets on the porch. You can certainly start to picture what it is going to look like!

On day two of the deck construction project, they got all the decking on, built the stairs, and framed out the screen porch. The only issue is that the deck is right outside of my bedroom window and their 7 AM kickoff time isn’t terribly compatible with my 7:30 AM wakeup. Ah, well..

Though I didn’t get home yesterday until after dark, I did get an early morning photo of the progress. The ‘boss’ – Curt (of Curt’s Custom Decks) – is on the scaffolding in the black sweatshirt.
