Far Cry – I finally finished one!
The first person shooter (FPS) genre of video games is now somewhere around 15-20 years old, depending on whether you consider Doom or Castle Wolfenstein 3d the first. In that time, I’ve tried to solve a bunch of them. I always seem to get about 3/4 of the way through and never get around to finishing. Here’s a graveyard of games I got 3/4 of the way through:
- Doom
- Doom II
- Quake II
- Half-Life
After all those years, I finally solved one. It took me two years – but I solved one. Last night at about midnight, I beat Doyle to finish the game Far Cry. I actually restarted it two or three times – most recently in Fall ’07.
Now that I’m done, I’m off to play the Orange Box (Half-Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2). I’ll let you know how it went in 2010..
