SPAM filter still not working right..

… but at least I’m not getting any SPAM!

SPAM fix enroute

As I mentioned last week, I’m getting SPAMmed like freakin’ mad on here. I’ve got a fix in place that’ll make it marginally tougher to post comments, but it shouldn’t be a big hassle. It’s only partially implemented, so you may not be able to post comments for the next couple of days.

Thanks for your patience!

Now, all I need is a spare $47.5 million

If anybody is looking for a good birthday present for me.. this would be a great way to get a little more elbow room.

Oh yeah, it’s only 312,170 acres. Click the picture to see the whole story:

BWCA 2005 – The trip north

Our 2005 BWCA journey started immediately after work on Wednesday, Sept. 22nd. It seems like you can never get out of work when you think you will be able to before a vacation, and today was no exception. I ended up having to leave Heather at work to pick up the Tufvanders in south Minneapolis.

When I planned for the BWCA, I planned for 40, not 90 degrees. By the time we had our gear loaded, I was drenched in sweat. We loaded all of our packs into the 4Runner and the Tufvanders canoe on the roof rack. We picked up Heather at work at 6 and started driving north.

It’s very lucky that we left when we did – a line of very strong thunderstorms blew through the north metro very shortly after we drove by. We caught the edge of a huge storm – and the winds threatened to gust the 4Runner off of the road. We did better than the northern suburbs did – many lost trees, power, or worse.

Getting to Grand Marais always takes longer than it should – and we rolled in near midnight. We stayed at the luxurious Gunflint inn for the night, sharing a room with the Tufvanders. As testament to how tired I was, I failed to notice a 2nd bedroom in back and thought I was sleeping in a chair for the night. We unloaded the truck and quickly turned in.

The PBR Road Warriors

I had the most fun that I’ve ever had yesterday watching a race. The race was the 2005 Twin Cities Marathon and the reason for the fun was a group of 7 others that joined me to chase the race on bike. Two individuals (ahem, Mr. Erickson and Mr. Mitchell) affixed tubs to their bike and hauled some tasty Pabst along for refreshments.

We caught the route at about 7 different places, starting at Lake Calhoun and ending at the Capital building. Since the lovely Mrs. T3ks3y was running the race with her best friend Bethie-boo, I was able to use my Rebel XT to grab lots of shots.

It was a very successful day – Heather and Beth finished (and had a great time), Alana (a co-worker) finished, we got in 30 miles of riding, and JP avoided even getting road rash when he tangled with Kermit’s bike.

Congrats to the running ladies – and thanks to the bike gang! Here’s a group photo at about mile 21:

Poker Night VII is a wrap!

I hosted Logic Poker Night VII at the T3sk3y compound last Wednesday. It’s a long trip for most, but I lured people in with promises of food and pinball. It apparently worked – I had 10 show up by gametime. After a brief arcade period, the tournament started at about 7:30.

The twist this time was the inclusion of a ‘bad beat kitty’ – a little $2 side pot for the person that lost the biggest heartbreaker.

Again, I survived to make the “Final Table” but couldn’t bring it home. I overplayed a pair of fours against two pair and got left for dead with a single $25 chip afterwards. I was out the next turn in 4th place. Ultimately, the first graduate of the oft-maligned “Landers School of Poker” took home the big pot. Congrats to Karl K for taking down Sheardo with a 2-3.

Here’s a quick shot of the pregame action:

Damn spammers!

If you think Spam is bad enough in your e-mail box, just wait until they find your blog. I’ve had about 300 posts placed by Spammers over the past two weeks. It’s all I can do to keep up!

So, what did they want me (or you) to visit?

  • Online Casinos
  • Mortgage Calculators

Whee.

The fix will be in soon – then we’ll see how well the spamming works!
